Marcus Marschall, who has an American and Austrian background, has over thirty years of experience as an art dealer. He studied art history in Germany and is a renowned expert in 19th-century art and plein-air oil sketches. He started his career as a curator for the art collection of his former business partner Hanns Daxer and his wife Louise Daxer-Piech. Marcus Marschall founded Daxer & Marschall with the support of Hanns and Louise Daxer in 1985 and has been sole owner of the company since 1993.
Diek Groenewald studied art history in the Netherlands, with a special focus on Dutch and Flemish painting in the period 1400-1700. He completed internships at the Groninger Museum and the Rijksmuseum Print Room in Amsterdam and moved to London to work in the Old Masters and Nineteenth Century department at Christie's. He began working as an independent fine art specialist in 2008. He left London to join Daxer & Marschall in Munich in 2012.
Simone Brenner leads the gallery’s research team. She studied art history in Germany, with a special focus on Italian art. After graduating, she gained experience of the auction market and worked for museums in northern and southern Germany. She joined Daxer & Marschall in 2008. She set up as an independent fine art specialist in central Italy in 2011 before returning to Munich to work for Daxer & Marschall in 2013.
